Well the soccer season is almost over and the Wartburg Knights were in a three way tie for first. They lost in the championship in overtime to Luther; however, they are hosting the tournament that will get them to the NCAA championship. Will update the details when they become available. Reese has been dressing for all the Varsity games, though he hasn't played a lot; however, the coaches like him and think he has a lot of potential. He is doing well in school and loving college life, though is a bit homesick. Hopefully he can come home for Thanksgiving.

Update............................
Well it has been months since I updated Reese's blog and a lot has happened. After several soccer camp invites and a visit to Wartburg College in Iowa, he decided to go with Wartburg. He graduated from Heritage High School and continued to play with his WAZA team for part of the summer; however, was sidelined when knee issues surfaced over the summer. In August we hauled him and all his stuff to Iowa, where he will spend the next four years, studying and playing soccer. His dorm room and roommate are great and he is studying hard. He has managed to break into the varsity team games on a couple of occasions and that is his goal. He is loving college life and we are so very proud of him.

News Flash
Reese has been invited by Western Michigan University to attend their prospects camp the weekend after Thanksgiving. We will be driving down to Kalamazoo to cheer him on, we are very excited and proud of him. Go Reese!
A Change of Heart
Well it has been almost a year since I posted and things have changed since then. Reese realized that without soccer he is not a happy camper so he began playing again with his WAZA team. He did really well and again went out for his high school team. Though the team did not fare well, Reese continued to work hard and play hard and at their end of the year awards banquet he was awarded the unsung hero and the coach award. It was a nice and well deserved ending to his senior year of soccer. He is now waiting to begin winter indoor practises with his WAZA team in preparation for spring. He is also looking to get into some college tryouts in order to play soccer next year.

The End............
Well this will be the last post for Reese's soccer career as he has decided to hang up his cleats. After recuperating from an injury he decided that soccer was not his first passion and that he had gotten out of hockey for the wrong reasons. He realizes that continuing with soccer would be a waste of time and money, (his time, our money) when his heart is not in it. He wants to return to the sport of hockey, which he misses, and play for the fun and recreation. He will concentrate heavily on his schooling in order to get one or two small scholarships to get him through four years of physical therapy training. It was fun while it lasted and the shame of it is, he was a really good soccer player.

A Captain on Varsity
Well the school year has begun and Reese was named one of the Captains for the team. He is playing very well, has scored several goals and has several assists. He is the fastest one on the team and works hard every game to play his best to help his team win, unfortunately they are not all as good as Reese and we are about 50/50 in our wins. The aggravating part of all of this is the fact that his coach is still sitting him for 10+ minutes a period and we cannot figure out why. He will score a goal and she immediately takes him out. The one game where he didnt play a good game, she kept him in most of the game............go figure. Well the high school soccer season is almost over and Reese will start practising with his MRL team this winter. He has a tournament in Florida in Dec./Jan. so Im sure they will be practising quite a bit before they leave.

Busy Summer.......
Well Reese has had a busy summer with his soccer. Two weeks ago he went to a soccer camp in Akron, Ohio, where he is interested in going to school. He had a great time, met great kids and learned alot. Last week he flew to Santa Barbara for a camp at the Univ. of SB for a week. Got to spend some time with family, learned alot at camp and was approached by a coach who saw potential in him. When he gets home he begins summer camp with his new MRL team. He cant wait to try out all the things he learned over the past two weeks. Good job Reese and its just the beginning for you.
