Reese began his soccer career at the age of 12 1/2 when he played on his school soccer team. Having decided not to play hockey, after playing for 6 1/2 years, he began to practise with a soccer ball and found he had a natural talent. When the school soccer season ended, Reese began to practise with an elite soccer team and in the spring tried out for the team. Though he made the team, they ended up not having enough talented kids to field a travel team so it folded. Reese then tried out and made a local travel team. During the course of the fall season, the team hired a trainer to work with the kids. This trainer was so impressed with Reese's abilities that he worked with him one on one. It was also recommended by this trainer that Reese continue to pursue a team in an older age bracket, 16 & under, as his skills were beyond the kids his own age. Reese continues to practise in-doors at Saginaw Valley University to keep his skills up. He watches alot of soccer games and tries to emulate his idol, Christiano Renaldo.
