End of Varsity Season

Well Varsity is over and not too soon for Reese. He did not get to play alot the last two games and was not a happy camper. It seems the coach had favorites and those are the kids who played the most. He is now looking forward to his AAA Fusion team to begin, but in the meantime he is taking driver's training finally.

Still A Varsity Star

Well just as Reese was resolved to moving to JV his coach informed him that she had overlooked him in the past few games. She told him he was doing really well and she would be playing him more, this before he even told her what he was thinking. The last game he played all but five minutes of the game, so he is going to stay put. He has a game tonight and we will see if he plays alot again, I sure hope she has seen his potential finally. He is happy to stay now that he is going to get more playing time, it will be up to him to work hard and stay on top.

High School Varsity

Well the soccer season has begun and has been alittle disapointing. Reese is not getting alot of playing time and it astounds me as to why. The one game he played quite abit in he got two assists and they won the game. Go figure! He is getting very frustrated sitting the bench and has decided to talk with his coach. He is thinking of moving to JV so he can get more playing time. He also would like to continue to practise with the Varsity team but play with the JV. I give him lots of credit and, as you can see, he is more concerned about keeping his game up then keeping the prestige of Varsity. Good job Reese!

Varsity!

Well while the rest of us were enjoying a family reunion in Manistee, poor Reese had to stay in Saginaw trying out for the varsity soccer team. And his sacrifice paid off by making the Varsity high school team, one of only a handfull of sophomores to make it. And to top it off he was able to join us at the lake for three days of vacation. He will now be practising daily until school starts and once the high school season is over, he will again join his Midland Fusion team for winter practises and indoor games. We are very proud of his commitment and dedication to his sport.

Tournament Updates

Well the Petoskey tournament was successful in that the team made it to the finals. Unfortunately they came in runner up, unable to get that second goal to tie the game. Reese is playing very well and is contributing to the team immensely.
He just returned from Minnesota where the team played in the World Cup. They traveled by train, were gone a week and played at an international level. They played teams from Mexico, Haiti and Canada, unfortunately only beat the Mexico team. Though they did not fare better in their other games, they kept them close and only lost 1-0 or 2-1, so all in all a great experience for him.

Petoskey Tournament

Well the Petoskey tournament was alot of fun and we "almost" won the championship. Reese's team made it to the championship game but couldnt pull out that last goal and so they were runners up. They only lost by "1" and the team played pretty well. Reese is looking really good and has an eye for the play and is very fast. It is extremely agravating that he is not a starter, as he is one of the best on the team. I would like to see him get on a team like "Vardar" where the players are better and they play better competition, but Reese loves this team and wants to stay with it. The good thing is this coach is very college scholarship oriented and is going to keep the team together through their senior year and hopefully it will generate some scholarship possiblities. Reese is now on his way to Minnesota to a World Cup Championship Soccer tournament. The team is going by train and will leave tomorrow morning and return the following Sunday. He is very excited and we are excited for him. Will update you when he returns.

Dayton Tournament

Well the boys did not fare well at the tournament, though they held their own pretty good. They lost all three games; however, the first one was 1-0, the second was 5-0and the third was 2-1. The only goal scored the entire weekend was scored by Reese. He is playing very well and one of the best players on the team. He has two games left, one tournament and his Minnesota trip and then he will be done until after high school soccer; however, his team will be doing conditioning throughout the summer. In August he will try out for the ODP, Olympic Developement Program, very similar to Devins NTDP in hockey. He tries out and if he makes it he plays in their program. We will see how it goes and keep you posted.

Midland Tournament Champions

The Midland Fusion participated in the Midland Tournament in May. They played three games and ended up in the Championship game, of which they won. Reese got his first soccer trophy and was very pleased. He is playing so well and scoring goals, he has a good eye for the field. His footwork is awesome and he is one of the fastest players on the team. We will be heading for Dayton Ohio the end of May for a three day tournament and then one more in Petoskey. In July he heads to Minnesota for a week long tournament there and they will be traveling by train.

And The Season Begins

Well it is spring and Reese's team is now practising outside three to four times a week. They have three tournaments scheduled, one out of state, and he will go to Minnesota for a huge tournament in June. They will take the train and it will last a week. He is very excited and is working hard, not only on the field but working out at home. They had an indoor tournament a month ago and he was finally able to participate. They lost in the semi-final round but made a good showing. Will update you as the games begin.

Winter Soccer

Well Reese has been practising with his new team, the Midland Fusion, twice a week indoors over the past four months. He likes his new coach and teammates and has been learning alot. They have played a couple of games and had one tournament, unfortunately Reese was violently sick and could not attend. He has a couple of games this Sunday and then a tournament the first weekend in March and is very excited about those. Come March, things will pick up for him alot, more intense practises and games. He is very dedicated to his sport and though he is eligible for driver training right now, he has opted to wait till the end of summer so he wont be missing any soccer practises. Way to go Reese!
